Not every landscape project needs to be a large transformation. For this Del Webb Tradition home in Port St. Lucie, the homeowner wanted less planting, less upkeep and a cleaner overall look.

A Simple Landscape Refresh Built Around Less

Natural Designs simplified the original builder-installed landscaping by reducing the planting-bed footprint, removing excess material and restoring selected areas with new grass. The result is a smaller, more open landscape that feels intentional without overwhelming the home.

Smaller Beds and a Cleaner Finish

The redesigned front bed uses a restrained plant palette, white decorative stone and aluminum landscape edging to create a crisp transition between the planting area and the lawn. More open grass gives the front yard a lighter appearance while keeping the landscape simple and easy to understand.

This was a modest project by design. The goal was not to add more, but to make each remaining element feel useful, balanced and easier for the homeowner to maintain.

A Practical Stone Buffer Beside the Home

One of the homeowner’s main concerns was protecting the exterior walls from accidental contact with weed whackers and other lawn-maintenance equipment. A continuous white-stone buffer was created between the grass and the house, with aluminum edging defining the lawn side of the strip.

The buffer provides maintenance crews with a clear separation from the wall while extending the clean, low-maintenance finish along the sides of the property.

Reusing Existing Landscape Material

The existing Japanese blueberry tree at the front of the home was relocated to the backyard rather than discarded. Repositioning suitable plant material can preserve established landscape value while allowing the new design to meet a homeowner’s changing priorities.
